FPC Statement on Ennis Data Centre

Futureproof Clare (FPC) is genuinely disgusted at the decision of An Bord Pleanála to grant permission for the construction of six data centre halls on the outskirts of Ennis. The 200 MW data centre complex will use as much electricity as 200,000 homes, and has been granted permission to build a 120MW gas plant to supply its energy. In addition, the data centre plans to use an additional 80 MW from the already strained Eirgrid. Futureproof Clare will deliberate on how it will continue to campaign against An Bord Pleanala’s decision.
